Húsavík Mountain via Road
The hike starts at the scenic viewpoint of Gónhóll, just north of Húsavík, where parking is available. From the summit of Húsavíkurfjall, you’ll be rewarded with sweeping views over the town, Skjálfandi Bay, and the Kinnarfjöll mountains beyond. On clear days, the islands of Flatey and Lundey are also visible. The area features several hiking trails suitable for all skill levels, and you can even begin your ascent directly from the town center — for instance, from the local campsite or one of the nearby marked paths.
Please note that the road to the top of Húsavík Mountain is open to both hikers and cyclists, though cycling can be quite demanding on the steeper sections. During summer, cars may also use the road, so be mindful of your surroundings.
